Wooden Trunk (part two)

Whew, this little wooden trunk is taking a lot of prep to get to the fun part. After two coats of Kilz primer (I’m gonna try the spray paint primer next time), I painted the trunk with two coats of Behr gray paint. I used Porpoise, which is the darker shade of gray that I painted below the chair rail in our dining room.

It looks really nice — sorry for the cruddy pictures, it was getting dark!

The inside of this little trunk was also rather nasty, so I painted this gray, too.

I am so excited to get home from work tomorrow so I can do the fun part of this project. I’ll give you a hint– it involves metallic silver paint 🙂 Woo!

Sneak Peek: Wooden Trunk Refab

I recently went yard sale hunting with my friend/my hubby’s coworker, Beth. We were champs and hit up about eight or so community garages sales. We filled our entire truck — it was epic.

One of the treasures I picked up was this ugly little trunk. It was $3 and the perfect project. The hubby and I are in desperate need of a new save box, and this gem will do the trick perfectly once it’s finished.

It’s pretty atrocious as is, all blue, pink, chipped and nasty.

But I have big plans for this baby. I spent the evening priming it white.

Looks better already, huh?

Check back later this week to see how I finish the trunk!

Reveal: Dresser Refab

Part 1: Dresser Refab

Part 2: Dresser Refab

My dresser project is finally complete, teal knobs and all! I’ve had this hand-me-down dresser for as long as I can remember — it was definitely time for the update. If you haven’t been following the transformation, check out the links above for the back story on the dresser and the steps I’d taken to refinish it up until now.

Remember before?

I finished the staining over the weekend and put the knobs on yesterday. The knobs were a little long, so I cut off the ends of the screw (on the inside of the drawer) with a hacksaw.

(Look how shiny!)

With the knobs cut down to size, I can finally have my dresser back!

Isn’t it lovely!? I like that some of the old coloring stuck with the piece — it has an old look to it, even with its facelift.

And check out these gorgeous knobs!!!! Gotta love Hobby Lobby (or as I call it “Happy Hobby Lobby World Land”).
