DIY GIFT GUIDE: Cork LOVE Magnets

Cork LOVE Magnets

Day two of the gift guide and what do we have — stamped cork magnets!

If you don’t think these are adorable, well you might be cray cray.

You’ll love how easy peasy this project is. It takes 5 minutes, tops!

Supplies:

  • Corks
  • Small stamps
  • Magnets (Michaels sells round magnets that are slightly smaller that a cork round. Match made in heaven? I think so!)
  • Ink
  • Hot glue
  • Cutting tool

Steps:

  1. Like in yesterday’s post, carefully slice your corks to about a 1/2-inch thickness. You can use a steak knife, scissors (if the are really sharp) or any other tool you have that might cut through the cork.
  2. Stamp each cork round with your small stamp and ink. It might take you a few tries to get your stamp centered the way you like it. Some of the LOVE stamps looked more like LOVF. Oops.
  3. Place a dab of hot glue on the back of the cork and secure it to the magnet. Let cool.
  4. Stick your magnets on your fridge and marvel at their cuteness.

Love Magnets

Is there a wine lover in your family who would love these!? There are definitely a few people in my family who I think would like them!

Museum Admission Earrings

Museum Earrings Cover

On our trip to Philly this weekend my little sister took us to the Philadelphia Museum of Art where we got the coolest admission tags ever. OK, I’m not a huge museum goer, so maybe all museums give this cool little things out. Either way, I thought they were super neat. Depending on the day you go to the museum, you get a different colored tag to fold over your collar. Basically, it let’s the guards know you paid to get in and are allowed to be there. Some obnoxious, snobby people like to give the guards a hard time about wearing these on their collars, but I thought they were freakin’ awesome. Pretty much as soon as we got them I called dibs on them for crafting.

Museum tags

After we got home last night, I dug these bad boys out of my purse and quickly made an awesome pair of souvenir earrings.

First thing I needed to do was to cut off the tabs. The tin was thin, so I snipped the tabs off with scissors.

Next, I pierced a hole in the top using a rubber mallet and a nail.

I flattened the sharp edges with some flat jewelry pliers, then added a jump ring and ear hooks to complete my set of souvenir earrings.

How easy was that?!

Adorable, yes? I love that when I wear them I’ll be able to remember our fun trip to Philly with Em.

My older sister just moved to Chicago, so I guess that is next on our list 🙂

10-Minute Heart Garland

IMG_2821

Supplies:

  • Felt
  • Yarn
  • Scissors

Instructions:

To make your garland, first you need to measure your mantel or wherever else you’d like to hang your decoration. I used yarn for my garland, folding it in half so it was doubled up and a little bit thicker.

Cut your yarn and tie loops at each end.

Then, cut out hearts from red felt. Each heart needs two slits at the top for the yarn to pass through.

Start to weave one end of the yarn through the cutout slits of the heart until all of the hearts are threaded.

Then spread the hearts along the yarn until they will spread the width of the mantel. Then, you are done!

Hang it on the mantel some Valentine’s Day cheer made in less than 10 minutes!
