Choose to not be a lady

It’s been hot. Really hot. So hot that I literally passed out at the gym yesterday morning (embarrassing story, but I’m all good!). So hot that when the hubby and I went out with our friends to see the movie Ted on Friday, the usually-freezing-cold movie theater was boiling hot (definitely didn’t need that sweater I wore…). And so hot that I haven’t felt much like doing anything except sitting in our family room, which is mostly below ground, and watching TV to stay cool. How sad, right? I was off all week, partly in New York and the other part at home, and all I have to show for my time off is a really clean house, a painted hallway and a partially stained table (post to come soon!). *Rather disgruntled about my lack of productivity* BUT, while I was avoiding the heat in our family room, I was able to catch up on HGTV’s Design Star and TLC’s Craft Wars. The jury is still out for me on Craft Wars, but man I can’t get enough of Design Star. Love it.

On a positive note, I was just off work for a whole week. Yay! What a lovely break. And, the hubby and I are going to the beach at the end of July! Another yay! AND it rained last night and the temperature has dropped at least 20 degrees! Super yay!

What have you guys been doing to stay cool? Were any of you unlucky enough to lose power? It sounds like it was a pretty miserable time last weekend here in Maryland and the surrounding areas. So many people lost power and had to deal with the 100+ degree temperatures without AC. And they lost all of their food! Gah, that makes me so upset for them. I hate when you have to replace a whole refrigerator and freezer full of food. It’s so wasteful and expensive. Silly mother nature. Such is life I guess.

I did design a few fun things on my vacation, but I didn’t want to share them until I showed them to who they were designed for. This one was for my coworker Amy. It’s a quote from Nora Ephron, who passed away in June 2012. It reads, “Whatever you choose, however many roads you travel, I hope that you choose to not be a lady. I hope you will find some way to break the rules and make a little trouble out there. And I also hope that you will choose to make some of that trouble on behalf of women.”

I used one of my favorite fonts (seriously, I can’t get enough of this stuff), MansanaScript. I also chose to make it way colorful, staying away from oober girly and ladylike colors. No pink here!

All in all, I think it turned out pretty cute. I promise next time I’ll use a different font… Maybe.

What are some of your favorite fonts? One of my favorite things on Pinterest is stumbling across the free fonts that people find. I love fonts. L-O-V-E, love.

Happy Monday!
